Simply put the simple syrup out, and the hummingbirds will come within minutes. At least in the California desert, where the Anna’s and Black-Chinned are plentiful in the summer. With seven feeders up, I have hummingbirds galore, particularly in the early morning and evening, when they are ravenously hungry. I also have a family of Hooded Orioles that eat from the hummingbird feeders daily.
